I suppose we should tell you now the purpose of these events which we call "Rendezvous." (Pronounced "Ron-da-voo" or "Ron-da-vooz" if plural) They were special gatherings where trappers met up with fur buyers to trade their goods. This way trappers didn't have to leave the mountains to re-supply either. These gatherings were held at specific times and as you might imagine were the highlight of the year for everyone involved. They were times to celibrate life, play games and all around just have fun.

Rendezvous came to an abrupt end around 1840 when the fashion industry changed and no longer wanted beaver pelts. It took a great deal of skill and talent to live the way they did then. Today it is our pleasure to master those skills and re-live the satisfaction one gets from knowing them. The rendezvous held today very much reflect those that took place over 150 years ago.
